Connecting AppRiver
Overview
Connecting AppRiver lets Ironclad pull in email security activity from your AppRiver account so it shows up alongside your other security data.
Before you start: You'll need access to your AppRiver / Zix account with permission to generate an API token.
Step 1: Get your API token from AppRiver
- Log in to your AppRiver account portal.
- Go to your account/API settings and generate an API token (contact AppRiver support if you don't see a self-service option for this — some accounts require support to issue the token).
- Copy the token somewhere safe — you'll only be able to view it once.
Step 2: Connect it in the portal
- Log in to the Ironclad portal.
- Make sure the correct customer is selected in the scope bar at the top.
- In the left sidebar, under Administration, click Integrations.
- Find the AppRiver card and paste your token into the API Token field.
- Check the Enabled checkbox.
- Click Save. You'll see a brief Saved confirmation.
The API Token field is write-only. Once saved, the portal shows a mask plus only its final three characters, so you can confirm which token is configured without exposing the full value. Re-enter it only when rotating the token.
Step 3: Confirm it's working
Once saved and enabled, Ironclad begins pulling AppRiver activity on a regular interval. Check your Ironclad SIEM dashboard for AppRiver events to confirm data is flowing — it can take a little while for the first events to appear.
Troubleshooting
- No data after saving: double-check the token was copied in full and hasn't been revoked or expired on the AppRiver side.
- Token was lost before saving: AppRiver tokens are typically only shown once at creation — if you didn't copy it, generate a new one and use that instead.
